WinClear basics: Winclear is very easy to use and will clear basic internet history in most browsers. It’s file shredder is up to US military standards meaning it can delete and rewrite “cleared” information multiple times. Unlike other history erasers at the same price level, Winclear lacks stealth mode and is unable to be run discreetly. As of this the time this review is written, winclear is not compatible with Internet Explorer 7 or skype.
Effectiveness: Winclear can clear the type of internet history that it claims to witch is better than some history erasers, but compared to others, winclear is not very effective. It lacks compatibility with Internet Explorer 7 and many instant messanger services. It is however, up to US military standards on the level at with it can delete data. The US military standard is a certain numbers of overwrites that must be done when data is deleted.
Due to Winclear’s lack of features, Winclear is probably the easiest to use of all software we tested. To use Winclear all you have to do is start the program and follow the on screen step by step directions. Once completed, your history will be erased to Winclear’s full capacity.
Value: The selling price of the software is $ 37.00 but do to it’s lack of features and compatibility, and, compared to other privacy software at the same price that deliver much more, Winclear is cheap but still overpriced. It is recommended you compare other history erasers before purchasing Winclear.
